Scotiacon 2027: Massive in the Metropolis

Bring Your Event to the City

Every blockbuster starts with a great idea. Tell us about the event you'd like to bring to Massive in the Metropolis.

Give your event a clear, engaging title that tells attendees what to expect.

Please keep your title reasonably concise. Shorter titles are easier for attendees to read and work better across the website, convention programme and printed schedules.

Where necessary, longer titles may be shortened by the Events or Creative teams for space-limited materials while keeping your event clearly identifiable.

Please write at most 10 words.

Choose the format that best describes how attendees will experience your event.

Event Format describes how your event will run, while Event Category, the next question, describes what your event is about. Each format has a suggested duration, which you can adjust later if needed.

  • Meetup (30 min)
Casual gatherings for a shared interest, community or fandom.
  • Talk (60 min)
Presentations, lectures or discussions led by one or more speakers, often with audience Q&A.
  • Workshop / Masterclass (60 min)
Interactive sessions where attendees learn, practise or create something together.
  • Performance / Show (60 min)
Live entertainment including music, theatre, comedy, dance or scripted performances.
  • DJ Set (60 min)
Music and dance sessions. Selecting this format will reveal additional DJ-specific questions.
  • Public Set-Up / Tear-Down (30 min)
Time needed to prepare, reset or dismantle a public activity or display.
  • Custom (60 min)
If none of the above fit your event, choose this option and tell us more in your Event Description.

Choose the category that best matches what your event is about.

Categories help attendees browse the programme and help us group similar events together during scheduling. Don't worry if you're unsure, we can move your proposal to a different category later.

  • Meetup Events
Casual gatherings for specific interests or communities.
  • Talks & Presentations
Speaker-led discussions, Q&A sessions and presentations.
  • Workshops & Masterclasses
    Interactive, hands-on learning experiences.
  • Performances & Shows
Live entertainment including music, theatre, comedy and variety performances.
  • DJ Sets
    Music and dance sessions.
  • Other
Events that don't naturally fit another public category.

Some categories are reserved for staff, sponsors and invited guests, and may not be visible unless you've been given access.

Write this as though you're convincing someone to attend your event.

Tell attendees what your event is about, what they'll experience and anything they should know before attending. This will be the main description used for your event if it is accepted.

You may wish to include:

  • What attendees will do or experience
  • Who the event is aimed at
  • Whether any prior knowledge is helpful
  • Anything attendees should bring or expect

Don't worry if your idea isn't fully developed yet – we're happy to help you refine it.

Please write at most 250 words.

Leave us a note about anything you don't want published or anything else the Events Team should know.

Examples include:

  • Scheduling preferences
  • Accessibility considerations
  • Equipment not covered elsewhere
  • Content warnings
  • Backup plans
  • Anything that should not appear publicly

This field is only visible to the Events Team.

Enter the planned duration of your event in minutes.

Most events use the duration suggested by their chosen Event Format, but you can request a longer or shorter slot if your event needs it.

If you're co-hosting your event, list the email addresses of any additional presenters and we'll invite them to join your proposal.

Additional speakers can be added or removed later if your plans change.
